It occurred to me as I was laying awake after a 3:30 am nursing session this morning and my baby was back soundly asleep, that there should be an Uber Moms service. Now I know some of you have had to have this thought come across your mind at least once while you’ve been home with your baby all day. Right?
Well this service wouldn’t based on taking you to your next destination or food delivery. Nope. This service would be to help those new moms, or dads for that matter, on those days where you really could just use a helping hand with just a click of a button. Maybe someone to quickly make you lunch because it’s 2:30 p.m. and you’ve yet to even eat for the day because little sweet baby has been resisting naps all morning. Or someone to come get that load of wet laundry out of the washer and throw it in the dryer for you (yes people, sometimes that does take all day for that to happen). You all see where I’m going with this; anything you need, you just tap a few buttons on your phone and someone is headed to you within 30 minutes or less.
The hitch would be that this person couldn’t just be any ordinary Uber driver. Being sensitive to new moms like me, they should probably be another Mom as well. This service could do more than just good for the mom needing help at home, it could be used to employ mothers in need of income, specifically single mothers who are having a rough time making ends meet. I would like to think of this potential service as “mom’s helping mom’s”. Besides being a service to employ mother’s who are having a hard time making ends meet, only a Mother herself understands why you may not have showered in two days. Ok, really five but whose counting right? After all, that is what dry shampoo is for. Personally, I would rather have a stranger come to my house for help because we all know the stress of having someone you know coming over after you’ve had a baby. Let’s be real, whether it’s a friend or family member coming to your house to stop by to help, bring a meal, or just visit; there will always be pressure simply put on oneself, to throw yourself together so they think you somewhat have it together. And if you are like me, you make sure the couch pillows are always fluffed and the throw blankets folded. Every. Single. Time.
Of course, there needs to be some special considerations taken into place before this Uber Mom shows up at your house because well, she is also a stranger. Uber would have to be responsible for more in-depth screening as they would have to be sensitive that a mom doesn’t just want some random person coming into her house with a baby.Especially, if you are like me and paranoid of every cough, sniffle, sneeze and any other general bodily function that could even relate to being sick (my husband think All those logistics can be worked out however, ensuring that mom and baby are always protected and never put at risk for anything. Anyway, it’s almost lunch time for me, and granted my sweet babe stays asleep for a bit, I might get to eat my 2nd meal of the day. If that’s the case, I would be on a roll today!
So, any of you hungry mamas out there have any Uber connections so we can get this service started?
